1. Purpose
This policy details how www.weather.wtf sources, credits, and respects third-party material, upholding local journalists and weather professionals.
2. Where Our Stories Come From
We monitor public posts by verified local TV and radio stations on X (Twitter) via the official API, alongside official public-domain government data (NWS/NOAA) and human-vetted user submissions. We do not bypass paywalls or scrape news station websites.
3. How We Credit Sources
Each video and video page credits originating stations with clear plain-text @handles (e.g., "Source: @ExampleStationWX"). We add the disclaimer: "Not affiliated with or endorsed by the credited sources".
4. Our Approach to Fair Use
Our workflow focuses on reporting unprotected facts, transforming scattered local reports into short, AI-assisted narrated summaries with automated PG-13 moderation and human review of flagged items, fulfilling classic news-reporting fair use (17 U.S.C. §107).
5. Images, Video Stills, and Media
Our Trending Desk collage uses the stations' own post photos and images as part of a transformative news summary. Each image is attributed to the posting station by its @handle. Rights holders can request removal at rights@weather.wtf, and we remove promptly. Other visuals are generated in-house, licensed, or public-domain (NOAA). The Elbo Room live beach cam feed in Fort Lauderdale is used with attribution, pending a formal written agreement.
6. Corrections
Errors in credit formatting or facts will be fixed promptly upon notification.

8. Automation, Takedowns, and Opt-Outs
- Fully automated. weather.wtf is fully automated. There is no human staff.
- No-fight takedowns. If a verified station account owner or the original poster asks us to remove content, we remove it immediately. No questions, no pushback.
- Network-level opt-out. A media company can remove all of its stations across every market in one request, verified from any official X account of a station it owns (or from the network's own X account).
- Permanent blacklist. Stations and networks that opt out are never re-added. We respect any reason, including brand concerns about our name. No lawyers needed.
