Weather.WTF, how's the weather?

Weather.WTF has two parts. Trending shows: weather news from vetted local news stations, made automatically. Channels: every member has a channel, named like a social profile (for example "Mike Penrod"), with travel shows and weather shows. The member posts the shows, and a host narrates the member's own stories and experiences as news, for them. Your story becomes news.

It's news. weather.wtf is a real news broadcast covering the top trending stories from real, vetted local news stations. weather.wtf, an AI-generated news platform. Real news from real stations, avatars instead of hosts, nothing fake: the avatars and tools are the delivery, the stories are real reporting from real local stations. weather.wtf is owned and operated by MVP MGMT Expert, LLC, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and covers the United States only, for now. Live beach weather cam in partnership with the Elbo Room, Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Elbo Room is a separate company. Morning news is sponsored by ElboTV. weather.wtf is not an official forecast: for warnings use weather.gov, NOAA Weather Radio, and your local emergency officials.

About the editor

Who runs weather.wtf: Mike Penrod is Founder & Editor-in-Chief of weather.wtf. MVP MGMT Expert, LLC, wholly owned by Mike Penrod, owns and operates the site and is funded by memberships. His page is /mike-penrod (bio and contact form). /editor redirects there. Every story and show carries the byline "Founder & Editor-in-Chief: Mike Penrod".

Mike Penrod's background (his personal career history): 35 years working where technology meets hospitality and lifestyle brands. Since 1991 he has led the structural turnaround of the Elbo Room in Fort Lauderdale, preserving the 1938 landmark, and in 1996 he engineered and launched the internet's first commercial live stream from the Elbo Room (about 2 million subscribers, roughly 20% of the active internet population at the time). He currently leads ElboOS, a media licensing engine that uses AI automation to scale legacy brand IP. From 2005 to 2020 he was a co-founder and the operational architect of Nikki Beach's global expansion (65+ properties in 18 countries; he wrote the operations manual used to onboard 150,000+ employees). In the early 2000s Netscape founder Jim Clark recruited him to lead Seascape. In 2022 he was appointed Co-Chair of the Congressional Technical Working Group on Crypto, advising the U.S. House on digital asset policy, identity theft prevention and blockchain infrastructure. weather.wtf itself is not the Elbo Room and is not based there; the site's beach cam is in partnership with the Elbo Room.

How it works

Every Trending Weather show is built from the official posts of vetted local TV and radio news stations on X. Each story names the reporting station on air ("WOWT 6 News reports…") and credits it below the video as @handle #WeatherWTF. No user-generated content and no made-up stories. The shows are station-reported: our hosts Noah, Tom and Lucky present the stations' reporting, and automated PG-13 and weather-only checks screen what appears. The Sourcing Standards page (/standards) explains how stations are vetted, how credit works, corrections (through the contact form at /contact), and self-service takedowns (/takedown).

Pages you can visit

• Home (/): today's show, the live beach weather cam (in partnership with the Elbo Room, Fort Lauderdale Beach), and local conditions.
• Ask Noah: the floating "Ask Noah anything about the weather…" bar at the bottom of every page (it folds into a round Noah bubble when you scroll; the full page is /chat). Free city weather reports and answers about weather.wtf, five a day.
• Community (/community): the members board with threads, events, photo posts and photo groups (/community/photos); members can create their own photo group.
• Moon & Tides (/moon-tides): moon phases and tide times.
• How it works (/how-it-works): how a show is made, step by step.

Market pages and station posts

Every TV market has a page at weather.wtf/{market}, for example /chicago, /miami, or /fort-lauderdale (part of the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market). Each page lists that market's verified, active local stations with their call letters and @handle, links to each station's X profile, and shows their recent posts from the X API. Posts must pass automated PG-13 content checks; flagged posts are held and not shown, and posts that clearly fail are dropped. Pages refresh about every 15 minutes. Every post is credited to its station and links back to X. weather.wtf is not affiliated with or endorsed by the credited sources.

Takedowns and opt-outs

Station account owners and original posters can remove content at /takedown: a single post, a whole station, or every station of a network. You verify by posting a one-time code from the X account (or adding it to the bio). Verified requests are removed immediately with no questions or pushback, and opted-out stations and networks are permanently blacklisted and never re-added.

Membership, sponsorship, and coming soon

New sign-ups are paused while the site is refreshed; existing members are unaffected. Every member has their own channel. Free accounts can browse and vote, see, and chat, and can earn WTF Coins but cannot spend them. Browse and vote free. Member $4.99 switches on posting, Weekend Photo Contest entry, arcade, and your own page. Every paid signup (Member and above) includes a welcome song, a photo booth credit, and arcade credits at join. Free does not. Member does not get the avatar-show wizard and cannot buy show packs. Show Member is $9.99 a month (own channel, avatar-show wizard, 1 show credit a month). Professional is $19.99 a month (4 show credits a month, trips, stamp packets, and premium frames). A Show pack is 4 shows for $24.99, one time, for Show Member and Professional only. Included show credits reset monthly and do not roll over. /membership lists the plans. Memberships are closed loop: a member's shows, photos, channel, handles and social media are all their own. Members share from their camera roll or their own channel. Member shows credit only your channel name and your own social media handles; nothing outside your channel is credited or pulled in. Verified posts (captured time and GPS) are eligible for news indexing. Inclusion is not guaranteed. (Weather.wtf's own public Trending Weather shows are different: they are built from vetted local news stations' posts and always credit those stations.) Coming-soon features are listed at /coming-soon: sponsorship for local businesses (/coming-soon/sponsorship), the Personalized Weather Desk (/coming-soon/personalized-desk), and station profiles (/coming-soon/station-profiles). You can leave your email on each to hear when it launches.

Sponsorship

Sponsorship is coming soon. Local sponsors (lawyers, insurance, roofers, plumbers, and other local businesses) will be able to sponsor local weather and submit ad insertions and assets for future placement in Trending Desk videos and personalized briefings. Every local market page is listed at /markets, with the market name, state, and how many verified stations it has. You can search by city or state.

Contact goes through the contact form at /contact (also on the editor page, /editor): news tips, corrections, support, privacy, legal and copyright questions. Messages go privately to the editor.
