Washington National Cathedral

Washington National Cathedral

Designed by the English Gothic Revivalist George Frederick Bodley, the Episcopal Cathedral in Washington DC was begun in 1907. Washington National Cathedral is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and the second largest in the United States.

Seen here from the Bishop’s Garden is the south elevation of the Cathedral, and the central tower rises 301 feet above ground and 676 feet above sea level, the highest point in Washington DC. The tower is currently being repaired following an earthquake in 2011.
