The Lonely Mountain

The Lonely Mountain

There’s a dragon in there, sleeping for the past few hundred years. Here’s hoping no dwarves or hobbits disturb his sleep.

Mt. Hood – a dormant volcano and the highest point in Oregon, at 11,249 ft (3,429 m) – seen from the northeast, looking across the orchards of the Hood River Valley. Thought by explorers in the 19th century to be the highest point in North America, with estimates as high as 19,000 feet, Mt. Hood dominates the landscape all around, rising to its full height from about sea level in a matter of just a couple dozen miles. This is where I grew up.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you all have a great weekend!
