Snow on Meteora just before Spring Equinox № 3

Snow on Meteora just before Spring Equinox № 3

In March 2022 the rock formations Meteora, Greece were twice in a week blanketed with snow. The last snowstorm “Philip” occurred on March 9; the snow has remained settled due to the frost until a week before the vernal equinox (to occur on March 20, 17:35′ hrs [local time: UTC/GMT+2] for these coordinates)! One longs for Spring to finally arrive!

This is a shot of Varlaam monastery (aka All Saints’) in Meteora, Greece. The first cells were built on the rock circa 1350 and so was a church dedicated to the Three Hierarchs. The first buildings were expanded into an entire monastery in 1517-8.
