A man shoots a selfie in Grotta della Poesia (Cave of Poetry), a 30m wide sinkhole at the edge of the sea near the small town of Roca. According to legend a princess loved to bathe in these waters and her incredible beauty attracted poets from all over southern Italy who composed and recited verses dedicated to her. Adjacent to the archaeological site of Roca Vecchia, an ancient town with a history from the Bronze age to Medieval time, the cave was used for cult practices involving the writing of thousands of dedications to a local deity in three languages: Greek, Messapic and Latin.
