This marmot was not sure when I returned to this spot below Lake Marie in Wyoming. I originally saw several of them there in this rock pile while taking sunrise landscapes. Hiked back a little later with the long lens and saw this one that was still not sure whether I was friend or foe. Liked this initial capture of the marmot there on the rocks among the pretty flowers. Around elevation 10,500 feet.
Will follow with one of the last images taken of this cute critter after it scrambled off and watched me for a while from a high distant point … but eventually after staying still it returned to its feeding grounds and ended up getting quite close to me.
It was also great returning to this park in late July … last summer in 2019 in late June, this whole area was still under several feet of snow.
