🔽Extreme weather events such as hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and droughts have become more frequent and intense in recent years, leaving many to wonder if this is the beginning of the end. Climate scientists attribute the increase in extreme weather events to human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels which has led to a rise in global temperatures and changes in weather patterns.

🏆One of the most significant weather systems that contribute to extreme weather events is the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which refers to the periodic warming and cooling of the equatorial Pacific Ocean. During an El Niño event, the ocean’s surface temperature warms, leading to changes in atmospheric circulation patterns that can cause droughts in some regions and heavy rainfall in others.

🔽Other weather systems such as the Arctic Oscillation, North Atlantic Oscillation, and the Pacific Decadal Oscillation also play a role in extreme weather events. These systems affect temperature, rainfall, and wind patterns across large regions, and when they are in an extreme phase, they can cause devastating weather events.

🔄As we continue to emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events are expected to increase. Therefore, it is essential to take action to reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate the impact of climate change on our planet.

🏆As of the making of this video, Southern California is going through one of the worst snow storms since 1919. The weekend of Feb. 24th through 26th will see snow levels fall to 1500 feet above sea level. Snow will hit areas that have never seen snow. Even the Hollywood Sign has seen snow flurries in the last couple of days.

✅This snowstorm is also bringing over 5 feet of snow in the San Bernardino mountains and heavy rain throughout Southern California. This is just one example of the extreme weather we are experiencing throughout the globe.
