The rain that hammered parts of eastern Scotland is now away.
But it has left a trail of devastation, which could take months or years to resolve.
Thoughts are now turning to how Brechin and other potentially vulnerable communities can best protect themselves from extreme weather.
Scotland Tonight spoke with Jill Scott, independent councillor for Angus Council and Professor Larissa Naylor from Glasgow University’s School of Geographical and Earth Sciences.
